All of the information within our platform is in one single place, meaning you don’t need to consult various sources and websites. We cover multiple countries and you can switch between them to view neatly organized information by market. You will also be able to view documents in either the local language and English translated versions of official documents.

Global TaxUpdate is based in Lisbon, Portugal and is an easy-to-use online Tax Platform that gathers tax information from various countries. We operate as a Software as a Service meaning you can purchase an online subscription-based service.

​Tax Update is based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and only provides tax information related to Brazil, serving also as a consultant that customizes daily manual reports according to client needs.
Currently, we cover mainly Africa and Latam countries. You can see the full list of countries here. We are also working on new countries to add to the mix. If you'd like to know about a specific country, feel free to contact us for more details.

To request a free trial you will need to register with GTU, this is a quick and simple process, simply click on "GET STARTED FREE" within our website and fill in the form. Don´t worry, we don't request your credit card details to register. You can also sign up directly on our platform here.
We allow you to test our tax library with no strings attached. All you need to do is simply register and choose a country for your free trial activation. You will receive an email with the confirmation and will be ready to start. 
Your complimentary free trial includes:
  • 10-day trial period;
  • Access to the country of your selection;
  • Access to 10 legal statutes within the Tax Library available in the original local language and full English translation;
  • Full access to all other features (Country Outline, Guide for the Foreign Investor, Political, Legal and Tax Systems, etc.);
  • Technical support from 9am to 6pm (Lisbon Time Zone), from Mon-Fri via +351 215 900 800 to help with any doubts you may have.
We do not limit the features or functionalities, however, we do give you a compiled list of laws that you can consult within the tax library. You will be able to view all of the laws available, however, you will only be able to read 10 legal statutes available both in English and the local language during the trial period.
You are probably viewing the platform using the "Without Subscription Mode". In this case, your account has not been validated by our sales team yet. Our sales team will need to approve your 10-days free trial, this should not take long, however, if you have registered more than 24 hours ago, please contact us via to activate the "Free Trial Mode". 
You will receive a notification that your complimentary trial period is coming to an end and you will have the opportunity to choose a plan that suits you best. If you do not choose a plan, your account will revert to the "Without Subscription Mode".
We currently do not let you choose a country of your choice to trial, however, if you would like to test a specific country please reach out to us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Each plan has a limit of users. 
Individual: 1 user / Regional: 3 users / Global: 5 users
If you need more than the outlined number of log-ins, you will need to request a customized plan, please contact us and we will be glad to help. 
You can include more users anytime you need it. If the limit of users available in our default plans does not correspond to your needs, you can always contact us and we will prepare a custom plan for you.  
You can upgrade your plan at any time. If you'd like to do so please send us an email here.
You can cancel your subscription within the platform by selecting Cancel Subscription in the "My Subscription" section. You can continue to access your GTU account despite it being canceled until the end of your subscription period. If you wish to renew or reverse your cancelation before the end of your subscription, please contact

Yes, you will receive a notification when your plan is about to be renewed automatically.
Registration is quick and easy, you can sign-up here. Once you're logged in, scroll down to see our plans. Choose the one that suits you and click "Subscribe now". If you need a custom plan please click "Contact us" or us via email to and we will be happy to help.
Your contract will vary according to the plan period that you've selected. You can choose between 1 month, 6 months and 12 months.
We accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. We will only request this information once you are ready to subscribe to a plan. 
You do not need to provide your credit card details in order to register on the platform, or during a free trial. We will only request your card information when you subscribe to a plan.
There are no set-up fees or onboarding costs. GTU is an easy-to-use tool, once your subscription has been activated you will automatically have full access to our content according to your chosen plan.
Once you have subscribed we will send you a notification by e-mail letting you know your account is ready.
The GTU platform is a subscription-based service, your subscription will start the day your payment has been confirmed, we will renew your subscription automatically. An unexpected invoice could be related to the renewal of your plan. If this is not the case, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
You can cancel your subscription in the "My Subscription" section of the platform. You can continue to access your GTU account until the end of your original subscription period despite the cancellation. If you wish to renew or reverse your cancellation before the end of your subscription, please contact us.
Unlike physical goods, our software as a Service is a digital product which we are unable to refund once accessed, for this reason, we do not operate a refund policy.

Yes, as payments are made using Stripe you will be able to select the currency of your payment when choosing your subscription. 
There are 2 ways you can reset your password:
1) Go to and click "Forgot Password?" and follow the instructions;
2) Within the platform go to the "My Account" section and click the "Request password reset" button.
